Schools of the Sacred Heart holds its annual family Congé in April on the campus in Grand Coteau. Festivities for the entire family begin around 10:00 a.m.  Children’s games and recreation for all ages include a rock climbing wall, dunking booth, parachute drop, and pony rides just to name a few.     The entertainment includes two food courts, live performances by local bands, and a fabulous silent auction.  Professional portraits by Allen Breaux Studios will also be available during the day.  The annual Congé volleyball tournament at Volley Beach round out the Congé festivities

4th Saturday in October   Sweet Dough Pie Festival    

This event will celebrate the unique culture and history of Grand Coteau and will include a sweet dough pie contest with general public judging, live music, and local food. Browse through more than 100 vendors of arts and crafts. Trolley tours will be given of the town, St. Charles Borromeo Church, cemetery, St. Ignatius School and Academy of the Sacred Heart. Monies raised will benefit the Grand Coteau Cultural Foundation.

Annual Festival of Words

This free event celebrates the written and spooken word through public readings and performances, student creative writing contests, open mics, writing workshop in the school and community, and "drive by poetry." Authors include: Luis Alberto Urrea, Ava Leavell Haymon, Roddie Romero, LaTasha Weatherspoon, and Anderson Dovilas. Festival of words is proud to be listed in the Community Foundation of Acadiana's DONORSense database of Louisiana nonprofit organizations.

Start your Christmas shopping with a visit to the streets of historical Grand Coteau. The gift shops will be open for your convenience offering refreshments and sales of antiques, jewelry, clothing, packaged sweets, home decor and other unique gift items. Enjoy holiday traditions such carriage rides and carolers. Our Whoville event will include an outdoor movie, photos with the Grinch, and playtime in the snow. There will also be live music and local food. Bring the entire family for a memorable evening.
